The description reminds me of Goku and Vegeta, which fits well here.
 
I can just imagine how much they _*pretend_* to not enjoy each other’s company; how they _*might as well_* be roommates, but _*only_* because it’s convenient; and then they decide to compete in the Sisterhooves Social _*together,_* win, and get embarrassed when everypony sees them hug!
