No, not really. Most of it is just because the show doesn’t follow the comics.

Fair point. The show has gone through a lot of change in staff over the years and has been going on for a fairly long time, so, unfortunately, continuity errors like that are bound to pop up more. A lot of the ones I’ve been finding are fairly small benign ones like Twilight’s fear of ladybugs though.
 
I’m not denying that Siege of the Crystal Empire isn’t canon anymore. I’m just saying that the other comics are. That’s why the Andy Price quote I put down is relevant. It’s also why I used that Star Wars example.

Certainly there were a few mild continuity errors in the early seasons, but these days MLP is stuffed chock full of them in practically every episode, and they aren’t small ones, either. That’s quite different.
 
Also, it’s impossible that Siege of the Crystal Empire is canon, because Sombra returned and reformed in it.

It’s just the show’s canon overrides the comics. That’s unfortunately how multifaceted fanbases work sometimes. The main media of the fictional work overrides other canon material.
 
For example, with Star Wars, there was a then canon book that had Luke and Leia have a romantic and sexual fling together. …Yeah, that book got overridden when the later movie made them siblings (which is completely understandable given what happened).
 
Another example would be Pokemon. It has the anime, spin-off anime OVAs and movies, multiple manga, spin-off games, and the main series games. Ultimately all of these things are their own canon but at the end of the day, the main series games’ canon takes the most important since it’s the main source material.

The show has had some continuity errors popping back even way back in seasons 1 and 2. In one episode Spike and Twilight were talking about when he hatched and they got the color of the egg wrong. There was also Luna’s reappearance in Season 2 where she got redesigned (and for whatever reason they don’t explain how or why she suddenly changed looks wise). She just does. I’ve honestly accepted that MLP is not going to be super continuity heavy from a long time ago.
 
The comics have their own fair share of continuity errors too. For example, the artists couldn’t have bothered to get Greta and Grandpa Gruff’s designs right.
 
It also has its fair share of writing hiccups too. The comic storyline with the deer was super preachy and all the new characters introduced (both the deer and the big business Minotaur) were all total jerks but somehow the deer were painted as being in the right. There was also the story about the Kelpie where Twilight tried
 
I honestly thought Sombra’s backstory in the comics were rather sloppily handled too. In my opinion, Sombra’s just honestly not well handled at all: not in the show and not in the comics. I honestly even see much fan made stories of him that were well written either. The guy is just cursed to get the short end of the stick.

Well, it’s very sad, because there are lots of plot holes in FiM, that were explained in comics, And just interesting stories. I just don’t understand, why does it goes with Hasbro marking, if it’s not canon.

The comics aren’t canon. That’s why Sombra is still a villain: because he never reformed in the show.

I’m sure, she won’t appear, unfortunately. The fact, that evil Sombra returned, already let us understand, that scenarists don’t give a sh@t, what’s happening in official (!) comics.

Spike’s origins would honestly be great to finally hear about. If they don’t then off to making the origin fic I go.

And let’s stop trying to tie in comic canon to show canon, especially in the last season.
