hmmm…how to put this…HE’S GIVING HER THE SEX!!!
@HIEfan36
I was an ass and sockpuppeted the whole thing. I apologize. Genderqueers creep me out but I AM open to hearing how gender is different from sex (and no, I probably don’t think everyone will look like that abomination I drew below.)
Internet trolling is a hard habit to kick…I’ve done it for years. Now it’s harder than ever when so many things about modern culture and society piss me off so badly. I am a bitter millennial who wishes he could live in the 90s forever.
* gasp * But the show wants us to love and tolerate! Are you saying it doesn’t want us to love and tolerate bigotry?!? /s
XD
In any case I largely agree, the message of the show is just lost on some. Season 8 was almost TOO on the nose with its theme of diversity and inclusion. People don’t have to like the message but that’s what it was, strength in diversity, just as it was with the differing personalities of the Mane Six coming together way back in Season 1.
And much like with this cute new couple.
Welcome to MLP:FiM folks.
This post gave me cancer.
@HIEfan36
I think if you two had long discussion you might find you agree on some things and disagree on others. Ive seen and been in my fair share of “debates” on this site and as such know it won’t be long before a mod comes and tells you to stop and either bring it to the forums or more likely DM each other if you want to debate as this image is no place for that sort of stuff. At least that’s my 2 cents.
I was thinking the same thing.
I’m a young, straight, white, pagan dude, thank you. I am a pro-environment, pro-tradition Third Positionist, not a Republican dipstick. And Trump is the worst president we’ve ever had. I have a serious bone to pick with him for destroying the planet and him and his whole political party denying climate change and backing America OUT of the Paris Agreement. I have lost almost all respect for my country since he came in charge, though Dubya and Obummer were bad in their own ways.
That does not, and I repeat NOT mean I have to like seeing genderqueers in kids’ cartoons though. Imagine if this keeps coming up then drawing traditionally-attractive women will be seen as intolerant and taboo as blackface minstrelsy. Imagine in a hundred years, long after we’ve doomed the environment and let modern technology make us soft and weak, THIS being the new genderfluid, politically-correct beauty standard:
Please, please, no.
Do not do this.
You don’t know what you’re doing here.
I admit, MLP is not as progressive as shows like Steven Universe, but there’s no reason it shouldn’t be. Progress, by definition, is just that, and not something to be feared or rejected. Cartoons with progressive themes teach kids that things like gender identity or same-sex or interracial couples exist and that they shouldn’t have a problem with people who are different, instead of growing up naive and becoming a bigot later.
As for the culture you say ponies represent that is being “stolen,” you’ve got that totally backwards. Ponies embody the culture we have that is being improved by a younger, more diverse and tolerant generation. Season 8 was one big middle finger to Trump’s America, fighting back against the rampant racism, xenophobia and nationalism that Neighsay embodied. And if anyone’s culture is being stolen, it’s the old, straight, white Christian dudes who have made things hell for everyone who isn’t them for 200 years, and it can’t happen soon enough.
By the way, gender and sex are two different things. Sex is biological, but gender is a social and cultural construct that we are expected by society to conform to. Gender is not rigid like sex.

I like Star Trek, but apparently the show has an odd and unfortunate popularity among pedophiles. At least according to one police report that was in some news article ages ago.
Anyways, if MLP is progressive, then at least back in the beginning to middle it was the good, moderate type of progressive. Strong female characters who are still traditionally attractive and not butch genderqueer freakshows are always welcome. The stallions are given secondary role to the mares but most are quite masculine (Shining Armor and Big Macintosh are good examples) while still being respectful and chivalrous to the female ponies, and aren’t over-macho abusive meatheads like the A-holes in Gears of War (can’t stand that game, also it rips off Halo and Warhammer 40K.)
Reminds me of some of the complaints leveled against Star Trek. Gene Roddenberry was incredibly progressive (especially for the time a half-century ago) and produced a wonderful series beloved to this day that spurred new shows continuing his progressive view of humanity’s future.
In a similar fashion Lauren Faust was and is progressive. Both creators intended progressive (while also entertaining and just plain good) shows in their own way. Of course neither Roddenberry or Faust are in control of their respective creations anymore but you can see how the seeds they planted have grown. How some Trekkies and Bronies alike don’t see or accept that fact is beyond me.
Actually, MLP’s values are mostly traditional. Family, friendship, beauty, kindness, that sort of thing. Unlike other series like Steven Universe and Undertale that force progressive lifestyles and uncomfortable alternative sexualities on kids.
Again Sandbar and Yona are both great characters. But I don’t like seeing them species-mix like this. Even though it’s certainly nowhere NEAR as bad as shipping creepily-androgynous children with adult Undertale monsters or including hermaphrodites or genderqueers in a cartoon intended for children (SU again.)
I see the ponies, and to a lesser degree most other Equestrian creatures, as representing the culture we are losing to SJWs.
You’re right, it is progressive. MLP is a progressive show. And if you don’t like that, you don’t have to watch the show or be part of the fandom anymore.

Chancellor Neighsay? Is that you? I see you still have some progress to make.
Tumblr folks tend to frown upon race-mixing.
I don’t really think that’s fat. That has to be a thick coat of wool to protect from the cold.
