No wonder really. Most of them have literally the same face and body shape, the only difference being the colors and hairstyles (and horns and wings, if present).

She can’t tell a pony has wings and doesn’t have wings. I wouldn’t doubt she can’t tell between Moondancer and Twilight.

I mean, that’s true and fits the theme, but the original joke in the episode was she wasn’t able to distinguish between Twilight and Starlight was because they were both purple. I doubt she would confuse Moondancer with either of them, especially since she also wears glasses and a sweater. Although I suppose if the problem she’s suffering in this image was that she couldn’t tell the difference between ponies that share any similarities to Twilight Sparkle, even that wouldn’t be enough for Ember to be able to distinguish them from one another.

It’s probably because her mane has the same shape as Twilight’s. Or it would it if weren’t tied back.

How does Moondancer fit into this? She barely has any purple besides the two streaks in her mane/tail.

All this needs is Twilight’s mom also being present. Poor Ember – she’d probably short-circuit.
