They only look like ponies. Their physiology is completely different. They can somehow keep a massive length of tongue inside their body, even though not being any bigger than a normal pony :D

If her tongue were that long, how could she expect to keep it in her mouth… unless she were some kind of giantess? She’s portrayed to be no taller than anypony else, but we haven’t seen any hint yet as to an upper bound for her tongue’s length, though 30 feet may be… stretching it.

If it’s dirty dishes or the inside of a dirty oven or microwave. She can eat food, but it doesn’t do anything for her nutrition-wise. Basically they move around at night finding dirty places, can wriggle through small openings, and if they find a particularly dark and filthy place they like they’ll move in until it’s spotlessly clean. They’re not malicious and can even be helpful, but they are weird and have no sense of personal space or privacy: if you’re dirty they’ll lick you whether you like it or not :D

My take on them is they basically act the same as the folklore version, but there’s nothing overtly harmful or malicious about them. They just like dark filthy places and lick them clean to feed. This one’s even friendly, but you WILL be regularly licked all over whether you like it or not if you make friends with her XD
