Meh, good point.
Not if she started crying.

I will never let the “Mother Chrysalis” thing die.
>“Out of character”
>“Desperation because her children were starving”
Anything seem out of place there to you? I’ll give you a hint, Chrysalis has never treated the swarm like they were her children, and if that were really what she cared about, she wouldn’t have abandoned them (without the faintest hint of happiness that what was supposed to be her goal was finally achieved) when they got all the love they could ever need.
I think it’s safe to say that Chrysalis never gave a damn about her minions, only power. The ‘Mother Chrysalis’ thing is pretty much dead.
Most of the characters are cardboard cutouts. The characters develop in one episode then relearn friendship lessons the next. It doesn’t stop me from loving the show, but the fandom has done more for making me grow far more attached to certain characters, especially ones like Chrysalis, than the show ever has.
Except it wasn’t a good idea at all.
It’s an attempt to make her sympathetic that falls apart the second you make an effort to think about it.
And best villain? That’s a long toss considering she’s as cardboard cutout as you can get and her only gimmick is shared by her entire race. Shapeshifting changeling.
First the fruit loop bugs and now our beloved queen has been reduced to this.

Except yet another hamfisted redemption in the name of friendship would have been dumb and completely out of character for her. I would have preferred some sort of grey area, like oh I don’t know, she attacked Canterlot out of desperation because her children were starving and she’s too proud to ask for help.
You know, that idea that countless fanfic writers have been using since the s2 finale, because it’s actually a great idea.
If that is even possible with the Mane Six and Royal Family showing sympathy for her after all the grief she’s put them through with the Royal Wedding and kidnapping them to keep cocooned at her hive. Seeing her having gone insane may make them believe she is beyond even their help now.
I know her big-time fans feel bad for her, but the weird part is that I’m pretty sure those same people are the ones most opposed to her redemption; the one thing that would have prevented this otherwise inevitable, pathetic decay.
Jerks and bullies can keep being jerks and bullies (though so far, I think that’s just been Flim and Flam), but for world-threatening supervillains? The more they show up and fail (which they always, always have to, especially in a show like this), the only way to go is down.
And when she’s insane, what are the chances of her barking?
Edited
Well, she’s kinda lost everything at this rate, so…
Hope you’re getting summoned to a proper therapist.
I doubt it’s genuine sympathy…it’s mostly because she used to be one of the top villains in the show, but now she’s a blithering idiot bordering on being just comic relief.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen!
Pinkie: Are you loco in the coco?
It’s come full circle.
Not like she’s ever done anything worthy of sympathy.
All the more reason to see her get a happy ending in the end.
This has taken me by surprise that she’s gonna appear in the premiere. Just more fuel for my pounding heart.
