It is actually clever. This “huge monstrosity” of a pony now became a relatively “normal” mid-sized dragon with some peculiar wings and just “an extra horn” [there is enough variation between “pure dragons” that she does not look like an abomination anymore].
-> Plus, now all of them can have Spike! (if Twilight was not inmortal, now they would live at least as long as Ember).
