So does every fandom.
They could be fan of fandom (art or artist) if the show finally dies or G5 isn't on its best. Though don't expect as many new fandom stuff as the "glory days" couple years back, and having the show ending won't help matters.
It'll be overtaken by the "new hip thing" as the old goes into depth further of obscurity. Mind you it's not an exclusively MLP:FIM thing.
P.S. If G5 surprises us all then it'll be an interesting ride forward.
