I wouldn’t be surprised either way. The leak “confirming” a reboot was just very early discussions of a possible reboot, companies do that all the time. That said, rebooting wouldn’t be a surprise before then.

That was one of the rumors about the film that was going around. While there were rumors about it being connected to G5, there were also rumors of it being either a sequel or prequel to the G4 MLP film and that Tempest would be in it. So I’m hoping that movie is still related to the G4 MLP film since I would love to see those movie characters again in some shape or form.

Oh yeah. I think it’s getting pretty obvious that the fact that those leaks came out to the public likely changed their plans a ton. Not that it’s necessarily a bad thing or anything, that could mean that we might get a 10th season and/or might give them more time to change up G5 some more.

It’s pretty clear their plans have changed since the leaks, and now we don’t really know what they’re up to.  
The only “proof” this movie could be a G4 sequel comes from one of the Hasbro people who called it “My Little Pony 2” during the Toy Fair conference this morning, but they didn’t mention anything about G4 ending or G5. And apparently the actual sequel movie that was supposed to be released this year was replaced with the new summer special (I read that both have the same plot, haven’t checked).
