I wasn’t 100% sure if that was what you were going for, but now I do. And yea it is interesting no one or at least not many people even considered the concept for horses(or unicorns respectively). Theoretically The princess and starswirl are the strongest magic users in Equestria meaning they could simultaneously telekinetically hold hundreds of blades(or explosive propelling devices)
 
and be some of the most deadly fighters at that. definitely taking note of this for an animation of mine.

People are so used to writing as people that they forget how versatile and overpowering something like telekinesis can be, and how differently someone used to it would naturally take advantage of it. Its the same with blades and shields, for instance; why give a tool a handle your opponent can grab and use against you, when a weapon made of nothing but the necessary components to cause harm works just as well in the magic of an unicorn? You could argue emergencies in which magic isn’t an option, but that’s why we use side-arms.
 
I long to see the day someone animates Twilight (or any unicorn really) going full Kshatriya on a fool.

If we’re really going with what would make “sense”, I always figured if anything ponies would come up with shoulder mounted guns over hoof guns first, since focusing even one of the hooves into aiming and shooting would heftily impair the wielder’s mobility. If limbs must be involved, I’d honestly expect something more arm mounted, Samus-style.  
Unless its an unicorn-only gun, in which case you could probably just do away with triggers and handles and just make it a straight tube shape for ease of storage since they can just float and directly move the hammer anyway, but no one likes the idea of Pony Funnels apparently

I get that, but like how they finna’ fire the thing when they ain’t got no fingers? Holding a cup? ok hooves have indentions so chances are it’s sitting in that or they wrap their entire hoof around it, makes a little sense.

Nobody cares about ponification. Guns are cool and this is the only thing that matters. Ponies are just another way to show some people how much you like guns and how cool they are.
