With requests out of the way for now, it is time for more things nobody asked for.
This is my first draft for a Pegasopolis Legion armor, modeled here by my OC Stratagem.
Headcanon time:
After the exodus of the three tribes and the subsequent founding of the Republic of Earth, the Kingdom of Unicornia and the Pegasopolis Dominion it actually took several years before the nations met one another again. While this did led to the events of the first Hearth’s Warming and the founding of Equestria, the Equestrian Empire is strictly technically speaking still comprised of three separate nations, with their own government structures, laws et cetera. Whilst nowadays the differences between the three nations (or states rather) are minimal, some still do exist.
One of them is local government, cities belonging to the Republic of Earth (like Ponyville) are democracies, led by an elected mayor.
Cities of Unicornia are led by local (unicorn) nobles; counts, princes, dukes et cetera.
Cities of the Dominion are ruled by a military council, and the more ‘traditional’, (cloud) cities only give full citizenship to those who served in the Legion, which is a separate organization from the Royal Guard.
That’s why this isn’t a normal RG armor.
Anyway, the armor is modeled as a mixture of the old pegasus armors we saw in Hearth’s Warming Eve, the more “modern” Royal Legion Armors worn in Flash Magnus’ time and the contemporary Royal Guard armor.
It consists of three blackened steel horseshoes, both for protection and to enhance kick strength [taken from historical Pegasi and Royal Guard].
The dominant front hoof is fitted with a heavyer, less flexible steel horsehoe. This one is sharpened on the outside to function as a blade. It can be blackened (common soldiers), natural / silver (officers, pictured here) or gilded (high ranking officers) [taken from Royal Legion].
On the butt, we find a studded, blackened leather ‘skirt’ [taken from Private Pansy].
On the chest we cannot see a leather vest, above it we do see a scaled mail (both fitted with holes for the wings) [taken from the Royal Legion].
Above the scale mail, a hardened, blackened leather plate is worn. This one is relatively wide, partially covering the wings when tucked in, protecting the wings when on ground while being out of the way when flying [taken from everything but the Royal Legion]. The lightning is rank based, with common soldiers bearing none and high ranking officers having a winged lightning bolt.
The helmet is a simplified version of the Royal Legion helmet which puts the mane into the traditional ‘brush’ shape. These helmets carry a weak enchantment (unicorn magic) to keep the mane in the desired shape no matter the original length or style.
Why black? Tradition; the armor worn by the historical Pegasi, Commander Hurricane and Private Pansy were black, so I took that style. With the Lightning bolt and some decorative lines, this is going for a “storm cloud” look, kinda fitting for Pegasi methinks.
Goddamnit, what a novel…
