I used Paint Tool SAI for this piece and looked up tutorials and everything, so I could give this my all! I’m extremely happy with how clean the lines came out; I’m basically in love in the Curve Tool and the Opacity Bar now.
 
I first sketched it out in my sketch book, and despite some minor changes, the Curve Tool gave me ample opportunity to digitally recreate what I sketched, and the shading technique I used really helps also. I played with Flim’s hair and his body especially, given my artistic conscience, and I’m fairly satisfied with it. I just wasn’t appreciative of his original model, so I took a stab at his muzzle and his body type, and now I can truly ship him with Applejack. (Still, experimenting can be dangerous. ) A point I’m ecstatic about is the gradients in their eyes. I used color references and Blurred it, so it doesn’t look too out of place compared to the relative flatness of the picture overall.
