Splendor was the only child of Duke “Happy” Harpschicord Pants (younger brother of the far-more-famous Fanciful “Fancy” Pants) and Duchess Glittering Facet. When she was four years old, it became just her and her absolutely doting father. Happy ensured as much a normal childhood as he could for Dora, enrolling her in Canterlot’s finest schools. As such, she is a polite, articulate, well-kept filly. However, this gal is far from demure. She is steadfast and has a bit of a stubborn streak. It took a little while for her to accept her father’s new marefriend, the ever-glamorous fashionista Rarity. Nevertheless, the two very quickly began to bond over their shared love of fashion and makeup. Rarity often encourages Dora in her pursuits, recognizing that the filly understands true beauty. Splendor’s talent lies in her artistry skills. She seems to have a whole makeup salon in her room - her vanity is one every filly dreams of. With almost one sweep of her hooves or horn, Splendor seems to create utter magic across anypony’s face. Its not the amount she uses, its about the very subtle actions that seem to make her friends glow - a slight dash of eyeshadow, a scarf tied in just the right way, a curl untucked from behind one’s mane. Splendor pays special attention to her model’s eyes - she can create amazing, painting-like rainbow shades that seem to make anypony’s eyes shine. Splendor is confident that the eyes are the most important aspect of anypony - she can usually tell how a pony feels about themselves just by studying their eyes and expressions. Splendor took to cosmetology at an early age, Glittering Facet planting the seed by gifting her with her first set up makeup brushes to experiment with after an unfortunate encounter with some blush. Splendor only has one of those brushes left and cherishes it with her life. She feels its one of the few connections she has left with her biological mother, but is very content to share her passion with the ever - inspiring Rarity. Relationships:  
Dora adores her friends and is a very social pony. Her best Canterlot friend is Boadicea (the sweet-as-candy daughter of Trenderhoof and Coco Pommel) and her cousin Vanity Faire (the stoic daughter of Fancy Pants and Fleur De Lis). She often finds herself spending time with Dawn Star, Athena, and Ophelia (when the latter is feeling less-than-cranky that day). She adores her younger half-brother Tommy, and is very protective of their relationship. She is more than willing to step up to anypony who dares claim he’s not “her real brother” and…correct them.

Here we are, getting back on the NextGen train! I’m sorry I kind of dropped off it for awhile, just got a little distracted. However, we’re back on track and back to semi-regular submissions. I have so many stories I want to tell, and I hope that you guys like them too!
 
One thing that has been fighting me about writing these NextGen bios is how much I want them to be unique individuals that have a chance of standing out in the vast MLP NextGen crowd, and not seemingly copies of others. Splendor’s character has been in the works for awhile, and I’ve had to tweak her around a little bit but I’m fairly happy with how she came out! The idea that she is actually Rarity’s stepdaughter I’ve been rolling around for awhile, and I’m excited to work with that dynamic.
