That is a mild but consistent pain. It’s not strong enough to snap you alert and the fact that it’s consistent means it serves as a distraction more than anything. That makes it so stressful; it being distracting.

No, that pain relieves stress is something that is extremely well documented. It’s where the saying “slapping sense into someone” comes from. If someone is stressing out, slapping them will snap them out of it and causes them to relax. The jolt of pain focuses the brain.
 
With long term stress pain also works very well. That’s why people suffering from overstress often do self-mutilation. It’s usually when they are so overstressed that they can no longer get into things that normally relax them. Only severe pain is enough to get through to them and get them to relax.

I reeaaally doubt that feeling pain relieves stress. If anything I’m pretty sure it’d stress you out even more, because stress isn’t really an emotion, it’s something that just kind of builds up on you as you get well… Stressed out.

Well for many centuries it was believed it did work that way and bloodletting was an extremely common procedure.  
In addition here I do think it would work as being bitten that forcefully hurts. When someone is stressing pain is a great way to snap them out of it.

Depends on severity. Muscle stiffness with the causation being blood typically equates to poor blood flow, which can be remedied by bloodletting or removing toxins/anything that was causing clotting (again severity is key, a severe clot can be fatal. My best friend died at 30 from a blood clot in her leg). In minor conditions your body can dissolve clots provided proper nutrition and plenty of hydration.

Not always fatal. Depends entirely on the blood poisoning/severity. Hell you can have a few too many to drink and have alcohol blood poisoning, but it’s not going to give you much more than a hangover unless you polish a 26er or a 40 (depending on your tolerance) in a night.
 
AJ could’ve just had some toxins in her blood from inhalation of pig waste/a myriad of other unsanitary farm activities and Fluttershy just remedied her ailments the same way leeches can drain toxins/help blood flow through the anti-clotting enzymes.
