Description
Blaze has been experimenting with cross-dimensional teleportation and quickly discovered just how delicious teeny tiny little cities are~ Of course, the aftertaste is a bit earthy and the buildings are quite dry, but the delicious little insects that inhabit the bug nests are more than enough to make up for it. The screams of terror and pleading for mercy are nice added bonuses~
English is weird and scary whenever you try to think too much of it, it sounds valid but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just modern colloquial usage or something of “would have”.
I think it’s still correct. The sentence “my favorite game would have to be cod” falls into this same situation, doesn’t it? Unless it really is being used improperly.
I think “would have food” works fine as well but I am not sure if that’s proper English, mainly because if it’s a contraction “would’ve food” doesn’t work. I feel like it might be proper if it’s “would have had food” so then it becomes “would’ve had food” but I have no idea what is correct there, just that it sounds right without “had” :p

@snow360
Ideally it would be “had to have food”
That would imply it used to have food, since ‘had’ is past tense.
