I hate Season 8 because the changes they made were BAD changes. Changes can always be for the better or for the worse. The ones in Seasons 1-6 were for the better. The ones in Season 8 and Shadow Play were for the worse.

I still wish people would accept change so the show can be popular for ten years and be mainstream material.

I couldn’t agree more about the Pillars in Season 7 and the School in Season 8. They completely ruined everything about the show.

Sunsets redemption was rushed/done of screen.
 
Starlight’s back story is no better than the fandom most precious golden child, Luna.
 
Chrysalis was as dull as when she premiered.
 
Yeah actual teachers more “qualified” than the Elements to teach their elements. /s

S2- I got spoiled on the wiki years back about Cadence and Shining but I didn’t really care. The finale was great.
 
S3- Same thing as S2, I imagined that Twilight was gonna get wings…but not that soon. I liked it.
 
S4- I honestly don’t understand why fans are hating on the castle
 
S5- Starlight was straight up boring in the premire and the finale. Her backstory was weak. Her redemption was rushed way too quickly as opposed to others (Discord and Sunset). She was better as a one time villain and shouldn’t have been a reoccurring character (my opinion)
 
S6- Easily the worst finale. I can understand that the writer’s wanted to try something new by shoving the Mane 6 off to the side…but it doesn’t and didn’t work. They made Chrysalis look like Celestia levels of useless, she was honestly better in A Canterlot Wedding. Oh, and the most powerful ponies in Equestria let her escape easily. Only good thing is that she didn’t get reformed.
 
S7- StarSwirl and the other Pillars being responsible for the Tree’s creation is bad. Should’ve been a sentient being from the beginning. Stygian/Pony Of Shadows got the Sombra treatment: had potential but was wasted. Celestia and Luna were useless as usual despite it being about their old mentor. There was no point in Starlight following Twilight into the Pony Of Shadows to free Stygian.
 
S8- The school was alright and the students were the best part but the Mane 6 shouldn’t be allowed to run a school period. Get actual teachers. Throughout the season the Student 6 felt like the adults rather than the Mane 6. As far as Cozy is concerned…she nearly destroyed Equestria by being in a cahoot with one of Equestria’s most dangerous enemies and didn’t even show remorse…send her anywhere else and she can sweet talk her way out of it. But I’ll admit she was the best villain from S5-S8

I never saw a problem with any of these. I’ll give you that Syarlight’s redemption was rushed, and Starswirl was a dick (he was completely justified in treating Twilight like an idiot btw, what else could you call endangering the multiverse out of blind fangirlism?)
 
But none of these things kept me from enjoyong the show. Maybe people should quit bitching for the sake of it? Half of these problems feel forced to be ones via fan perspective and the legit ones aren’t even that bad, let alone “anandon show” worthy.

My results:
 
s1 - I know this wasn’t on the list, but I loved this finale, ultimate slice-of-life sitcom comedy.
 
s2 - Mildly annoyed at ‘suddenly Cadance and Shining exist’ drop, but otherwise enjoyed it.
 
s3 - Honestly was very happy about Twilight’s princess wings. She deserved it.
 
s4 - Loved this high stakes finale. Epic and fun. Got me to like Discord more.
 
s5 - Hated Starlight’s sudden redemption, only really liked Nightmare Moon future and alternate universe Zecora.
 
s6 - Wtf now I love Starlight. Already did by this point but this finale cemented that. Chrysalis was great too.
 
s7 - Felt a bit more ‘boring’ than most, but I liked the conflict between Starlight, Starswirl and Twilight lots.
 
s8 - Love all the student six, they’re great. Not enraged about Cozy, but I do find her bizarre, in a bad way.
