Gallus is a young Griffon and the most unique of the circle of international friends, at least in circumstance. Unlike his peers, Gallus didn’t come from any sort of lineage or high standing among his race. In fact, the young student is an orphan brought to the school to study abroad. It was discussed among the Griffons and Ponies that there are a lot of younger Griffons influenced by their greedy, selfish families. It would be best to bring a student not quite under that same influence. Thus, Gallus was approached by the Warrior, Gilda, the Memorist, Gabby, and Grandpa Gruff, the Griffons that had the closest relations to the Ponies, to be the Griff to represent their race. Initially, he had very little interest in the position, but a place to live and free meals enticed him enough.
 
Gallus surprised himself with how quickly he was able to make a small circle of friends. They ended up becoming close after attending classes for a few days. The group ran into some troubles as they learned that not all of Equestria was open to non ponies as most were . They hid in some of the ruins in the Everfree while they waited for the teachers to resolve the issue since any rash reactions from them would make the situation much much worse. Time was spent learning more about each other. It was here that Gallus learned that he was the only member outside of Sandbar, the sole pony of the group, that had no political importance or connections to speak of.
 
It was shortly after that Gallus really focused on his studies. His inadequacies were really starting to weigh on him. The only member that went deeper into the books was a Ocellus. What Gallus began to notice that even with all his studying and even in athletics, he’s doesn’t stand out among his group. Outside of magicks, which he cannot perform, he is a veritable jack of all trades. He even lacks proper sword training as a soldier. Most of what he’s learned is from watching other actual soldiers of the Griffon army.
 
His combat style, while mostly self taught, still can debilitate his enemies offenses and defenses. He’s able to create the openings possible for his friends to exploit. The young Griffon is proud to have the support of his friends to help cover any weaknesses and blind spots he has in his inexperience. Though they’d be hard pressed to ever have him admit to it.
 
Iron Blade - A humble blade of iron. A second hand blade that was given to him by Grandpa Gruff. It is utterly unremarkable, but well taken care of. Spike and Gallus are in talks about tempering and upgrading it to give it more character, but the Griffon is surprisingly stubborn about letting it go even for a little while.
 
Soldier’s Chest plates - Soldier uniforms in the Griffon army come standard with metal plates protecting their chest over their blue uniform. The School’s uniform is a bit stuffy with a Soldier’s garb under it, so Gallus compromised by wearing one of the more striking pieces for the garb on top while using an undershirt that matches the blue of the Army. Same as the sword, its secondhand, and well taken care of.
