You’re kidding, right? There’s only one case when the episodes aren’t strictly taking place after the episodes before. However, I’ll grant that most of the stories don’t overlap in any way.

This kind of logic works both ways. I mean, Scootaloo wasn’t there with the main characters to see if Rainbow Dash got into the academy, which is an important step in Rainbow achieving her dream. Clearly, Scoots is the worst little sister ever.
