I just checked: there was actually a band called Crypt Kicker Five, punk rockers from Philly. But Andy has drawn them as Britton mopheads, very much like the Dave Clark Five. Is it a double reference.

And then, of course, there were the Bobby Pickett, the Crypt Kickers and their _*Monster Mash_*. That makes it a possible 3 way reference.
