“You know something has gone wrong when you can literally never mention some satyrs without things turning to incest”
Not to mention that many there has completely stopped caring about MLP to the point where you may get called a shitposting complainanon if you bring up ponies…

I honestly don’t know why I should even bother replying anymore, because you’re clearly one of those who are going to defend the kids no matter what: Everyone should be allowed to do whatever they want anytime to anyone.

Incorrect. Continuing with the child analogy, they thrive on attention; why else would they act out so publicly and loudly? Why even post something on a public forum to begin with if not because they want someone to see what they’re posting? I have observed threads started with the express purpose to piss people off. I’ve seen people post thread-unrelated material because they know it’ll inevitably trigger some over-sensitive posters. I’ve seen people who throw out ideas that they like and who want to see if the thread will roll with it and produce content.

The quickest and easiest way I have observed any of these issues being solved has been, hands down, ignoring them. A troll who creates a bait-thread obviously does it to get a reaction, and by depriving him of your anger might as well deprive him of air to breathe for all it does for his longevity and continued existence on the board. The people who post thread-unrelated material (for the express purpose of pissing people off or otherwise posting a topic they enjoy) cannot exist in a vacuum; denying them of the response they desperately want gives them no satisfaction or will to continue. The only way I have seen off-topic discussion consume a thread is when people respond to it and either continue discussion, or yell about how much they hate it.

That’s honestly what it comes down to: 90% of the time I’ve seen threads derailed, it was because some fool couldn’t keep his mouth shut and gave these people the exact response they want and all the reason in the world to keep on shit-posting. Worst case scenario, one thread (which can be continued once the 500 post limit is hit) is consumed by the discussion and the next one after that is business as usual. BP, I have a question for you: knowing the mindset of these people, do you really believe that yelling “stop it stop it I don’t like this discussion take it outside get out of my thread” will accomplish your goals of quieting them? 4chan is full of people who love nothing more than to piss people off because they think it’s funny, and their attention wanes when they don’t get to piss people off.

So no. Yelling and screaming will only turn the thread against you because YOU have then become the irritating shit-poster by screeching whenever you see something you don’t like. The kids who throw around trash give up when people don’t give them attention; there’s a reason why “don’t feel the trolls” is a phrase that has existed on the internet for nearly two decades. And brother? If you think people hate the posters who have off-topic discussion or post bait… then you have no idea how much they hate idiots who screech their heads off and act as unofficial gatekeepers and who think they speak for everyone.

At the end of the day, the shit-posters leave when they get bored, but the gatekeepers stick around because they think they’re doing good. And I would rather spend my time with people who occasionally post bait than with people who are simmering powder-kegs of rage just looking for an excuse to throw a fit LIKE A CHILD WOULD.

If kids acts childish and throw trash around everywhere without anyone telling them, then they’re all gonna think that it’s perfectly fine to throw trash around and annoy everyone else in the room to the point where the adults just get fed up and leave, leaving the kids alone in their own trash they made.

Be the bigger man; another person acting childishly doesn’t justify you joining in, and there’s a reason most parents say “I don’t care who started it, I’m ending it” instead of punishing only one kid when they get into a fight. Throwing a fit won’t make it stop, and it’ll most likely just end with fence-sitters (and bored people who don’t care one way or the other) posting that thing you don’t like even more because they think that getting you angry is funny. If nobody likes it, it’ll die off because one person cannot maintain something over multiple threads by himself, and eventually he’ll lose interest. If it stays, then I guess that thing being shoved down your throat is liked by more than one person.

On top of that, I’ve seen threads turn on the person who’s trying to stop posting a certain thing. If you drag it on too long, it gets to the point where people who wouldn’t care or even agree with you will tell you to fuck off because they’d rather have incest (or whatever) posted instead of watching an argument consume the thread.

@everyone
Personally, when I see something I don’t like in the threads I browse, I ignore it instead of bitching about it and pissing everyone else off. Whether it’s greentext or a guy shitposting or even someone expressing an opinion I disagree with, I go on with my day because I’m an adult and I’m capable of functioning in an environment that doesn’t surround me with only the things I approve of.

“I can see why the people who got into it in the first two phases would be annoyed by it.”
That is so true that it almost hurts.
You know something has gone wrong when you can literally never mention some satyrs, like Gumdrop for example, without things turning to incest. Sometimes you can’t even talk about lewd without someone butting in and going on how it’s with your own daughter!

Oh, no, if I wanted to do that I wouldn’t have tried to explain or justify myself.
But what I mean is that you can’t go into a satyr thread without at least a mention of incest, whether the normal ones or what used to be Satyr After Dark.
Hell, it’d be easier to count the satyrs that don’t have at least one incestuous story or picture.
Background Pony #8681
@Deserter
I don’t see how there being a tiny number of satyrs with stories behind their incestuous urges proves your “point” of most characters being involved in inbreeding.
I think you just want to complain.
Background Pony #8681
@Deserter
and nowadays it basically went downhill quick into full-on inbreeding, with almost literally single satyr involved in it.
That is simply not true.
Incest banter comes and goes, but full on inbreeding only goes on with the few where incest has been a long consistent part of their character. And by the time it’s at that point, there’s an actual story about how it happened built up.

I mean, I can see why, the satyr thing started as the logical conclusion of Lyra’s obsession with humans, then turned into some cute family bonding stuff, then someone said something about Gumdrop wanted to dick her dad, and nowadays it basically went downhill quick into full-on inbreeding, with almost literally single satyr involved in it.
I can see why the people who got into it in the first two phases would be annoyed by it.
