Description
Ember was quite civil and modest when threatened. What if she was blunt honest? I’m sorry but the Dragon Army would have roasted all the other races, The Griffins have an army, but they have no hierarchy, and hate eachother, Dragons do actually care for one another even if they do it in a weird way, The Griffons would have become BBQ. Sorry to be truthful, but in terms of War…Dragons are superior.

Dragons would win this war easy, and good riddance to those racist Hippogriffs!
You are so silly. You don’t watch the show much do you.
Sometimes I think that dragon scales are only as tough as the plot needs them to be.
Though I suppose I can go with the excuse that ‘Spike was just a kid/hatchling, his scales aren’t as tough as they’ll be when he’s Garble or Ember’s age.’
Or use magic. Spike was marehandled plenty via magic. As for their scales being “nearly impenetrable”… if they were, Rarity couldn’t stick needles into Spike at all. They’d just break off. Yes, he said they don’t hurt, but she wasn’t shoving them deep enough to hit anything important either.
Maybe if you went for an eye shot? I assume dragon eyes aren’t as tough as their scales.
Yes? Anything, no matter how powerful, can be killed when helpless. It’s just a matter of finding the right weapon, and waiting for the dragon to drop it’s guard.
Assassinate a dragon? A fireproof fire-breather with nearly impenetrable scales and jaws strong enough to crush gems?
I think that Torch could win this war alone.
We also know that dragons in general can hang out with one another without getting into an argument each and every time, unlike the griffons. That, combined with the following:
Yeah… that war wouldn’t last very long.
All valid points.
Out of the five possible enemies, the griffons and yaks have it the hardest. They don’t have magic to fall back on. Griffons are notoriously fractured on top of things, and yaks can’t fly, though if Yona and Smolder are any indication, even a dragon should not want to be caught in melee with a yak.
By the way, contrary to OP’s statement, I remember Ember being rather rude to her supposed friend Thorax. The poor dear-deer-beetle didn’t even know what was happening.
On an individual basis, some dragons are massive and ridiculously overpowered, and would be a match for an army. Even the lesser dragons are tough, fireproof, and probably a bunch of flying tanks. Some of the smaller dragons are reasonably agile in the air, as demonstrated by Smolder.
As for “getting along/caring” for each other, that’s bullshit. However, there is the Dragonlord’s Scepter. Ember doesn’t need her people to care about each other or get along, she can just order them to, and compel them to act in an organized manner. Without that, I don’t see dragons really uniting against a common foe.
As for the Dragonlands themselves, they’re mostly uninhabitable rock, lava, and more barren rock. Dragons eat minerals, so there isn’t anything to actually conquer or attack. Nothing to claim. An invading army would have to just roam around in the Dragonlands chasing whatever force of Dragons they could beat, and quickly find themselves having to defend their own supply trains, build fortifications from scratch, and easily get locked into sieges and stalemates. Even if the dragons did have locations of interest to try to defend, they will never run out of food as they can just tunnel underground and eat/form escape tunnels.
There is one weak point to the Dragonlands, and that is Ember’s scepter. A stealthy infiltration unit sneaking in (not difficult, ponies have done it twice now) could “assassinate” her (either kill, or incapacitate) and steal the scepter. Even if they can’t use it themselves to become a non-dragon Dragonlord (perhaps it only works for dragons), they could prevent the dragons from having their center of leadership function.
You’re right. I’m sorry. There were, after all, dozens of dragons who came to Ember’s rescue when she was drowning. And they don’t love stories of betrayal and exploitation of one another. Not at all.
Your just speciest, you can’t admit when dragons are better. As much as I expect from a old geezer.
Better than Griffins who hate everyone, including themselves.
Ember: Sorry, you can threaten them all you want, but my people? My lands?! There’s an old Dragon saying, “If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of OUR NATION!
