Well, that’s ignoring intention though, isn’t it? Cozy Glow was power hungry - she was looking to take over and control Equestria.
 
Starlight Glimmer saw her self as a revolutionist. She believed her rhetoric - that cutie marks were the cause of pain in friendships. Yes, she manipulated everyone into believing the same thing rather than say be an activist on a college campus or something, and is why she was considered a villain. But, she believed she was helping others.
 
Cozy only wanted to help herself.
 
Starlight made dumb decisions based around emotions and didn’t consider implications of her plans. Cozy knew exactly what she was doing.

I’m referring to the writers making her unrepentant… Idiots, all of them… Neighsay should’ve been the villain trying to take over Equestria, and end up getting sent to Tartarus. Not a filly. A freaking filly!

In No Second Prances she wanted to show her off to Celestia in the hopes that Tia would gush about how great a teacher Twilight was, and micromanaged the friends Star was allowed to have partly because she didn’t want someone like Trixie embarassing her in front of Tia. It felt more like Twi saw Starlight as a project to show off than anything.
 
Twilight had the idea to befriend Starlight, and the others followed suit pretty much just because they trusted Twilight.
 
Starlight doesn’t really hang out with the Remane 5. They don’t invite her to things. She doesn’t hang out with them. They accept her, and they like her well enough, but she mainly has her own gang of friends, and hangs out with the others because of events that Twilight is arranging. Not because they’re besties or anything.

Not only that, but the whole “Sunset was looked down upon by everyone else and Starlight wasn’t” thing doesn’t hold water. Does No Second Prances not exist? The whole episode was about it, how Starlight felt like she couldn’t make a friend because of her past, how everyone was whispering about Trixie, and Starlight and Trixie making friends exactly because they felt like they were outcasts because of their past and not their present. I can agree with the montage at the end of season 5 where she goes to the old town, would have liked to have a whole episode about that in the coming season, but it did not ruin her character in any way, it just showed that the people who were previously in her cult accepted her for what she did. Would have liked some fleshing out, but what can you do. Starlight has suffered far greater than Sunset has as well, with the PTSD, Trauma and trying to handle both Discord and Trixie while being unsure of herself, exactly because of her past. Some times it seems people don’t want to see what is in front of them just so they can complain more, and, there are things to complain about, there always is. Either way, I will get back to enjoy every single episode of this pony show and all its characters, because I am a crazy weirdo.

The writers for this episode are idiots. Hopefully, they’ll change the ending for the English released.

I love the manipulative use of wording here as well.
 
Once again, we’re implying that Starlight was trying to destroy Equestria, which… no. From her perspective she was trying to ruin the life of someone who ruined her life first. She thought she was helping people with her village.
 
We act like Cozy only did what she did because she didn’t understand friendship. Which, even if that is true, also applies to Starlight since her misunderstanding of the nature of friendship was the entire basis of Cutie Map and why her attempts to change time even threatened Equestria in the first place.
 
Also, it forgets that Starlight stopped of her own free will and handed herself over to any punishment they wanted to give out. Cozy ranted and tried to escape.

She’s still a child though, that’s the one part I can’t really get over

I guess this is about, why writers thinks a little filly is more evil than a grown mare and deserve a bigger punishment?

Well, few people knew about what Starlight did except for the Mane 6, who accepted her at Twilight’s behest because Twilight wanted to make her into some kind of project. Then at the end of the next season she actually helped to save the day at great risk to herself.

This image speaks the truth. Starlight destroying Equestria several times is worse than someone trying to destroy it once. Also Chancellor Neighsay deserves jailtime for that blast of magic he did at that audience of people a while back, that’s borderline assault on a mass crowd.
