I felt the need to make a cute pic using my vectors of my hypothetical versions of the MLPFIM characters when they’re older so I decided to draw Flurry Heart giving Spike a surprise tackle hug. So cute!! :3
In my headcanon of a future for the FIM characters, I envision Spike and Flurry being close friends and she would refer to him as “Uncle Spike” sometimes. He’d be assisting her a lot on some of her adventures much like we see with Spike and Twilight in the current show. Now that Spike is much bigger, he’d serve as more of a protector in cases of trouble but is still there for her like he was for Twilight when he was a baby dragon.

But as he grows, his head won’t grow as much as his body will so this does kinda work out close enough if he keeps the same body type.
I just went into my vector file for baby Spike and resized his body without touching the head till he looked about the same height as my grownup Spike vector and the heads were the same size. It almost looks the same size, mine is just a tad bit chubbier.
He has a potbelly when they feel like showing it, but his proportions aren’t “thick all over”.
I wouldn’t exactly call canon Spike “thin” but ok.
Spike at your service, Dragon quest, equestria games, just for sidekicks, and princess spike exist. I think I have some leverage to think they will do the worst for spike at the drop of a hat.

No worries, but knowing this community, you’ll have to forgive me for seeing a normally thin/average character ballooned up in fan art as being tied to a fetish. The image IS cute and I’m not one of the downvoters.

No offense but you’re looking way too much into this to label it a “fetish”. I’ve done nothing that could be classified as fetish art of grownup Spike before (and won’t) and just the fact that he’s chubby doesn’t put it in that category. I’ve seen people do “inflation” art and draw thin/ideal characters looking grossly overweight and it’s not something I was ever fond of. Heck, even the more tame stuff like feet or characters growing in size is weird to me. Sure I draw humanized Pinkie being a chubby girl and my headcanon for an older Spike has quite a large belly but it’s just the style. Even with some of my art that does border on fetishes, I keep it as tasteful as I can but I think it’s a little much to assume that my grownup chubby Spike is a fetish.
Might not be for “fetishy” reasons, (I don’t think he has a thing for Spike) maybe he just likes chubby characters.

And as if DHX is thinking about it, a dragon that may or may not be spike’s father will show up and is a massive fatty. He won’t be, the episode will be another excuse to poo all over spike and make him an idiot. It won’t be his father, Spike will be scolded for DARING to want to know anything about his biological origins, and then it turns out fatty isn’t his dad in a “you’re an idiot, Spike We were your (abusive) family all along.” and used as leverage in future episodes to make him shut up with “You’re WRONG like that time you thought fatty was your father and you were WRONG?”

Actually, that’s not a bad look for him. Granted, the other dragons would make fun of him for being “soft like a pony”, but then again, he IS living among ponies and probably would end up looking like that.
