- story below -
Walking along the open trail, Apple Jack was on her way to see her very good friend, Flutter Shy. The sky was a gorgeous shade of light blue, dappled with fluffy cotton clouds here and there. The green eyed filly chuckled, rehearsing what she would say to Flutter Shy after all these years.
‘Fluttery Shy,’ she proclaimed in her head. ‘Will you do my the honor of being my girlfriend?’ AJ shook her head, pink already dusting her orange cheeks as she walked. Eventually she began to trot, growing closer and closer towards where she planted new apple trees, the place she asked Shy to come to.
The cowgirl grew excited, her heart hammering. She could make out the pastel yellow coat of Shy, her curly pink hair up in a ponytail. But then AJ stopped in her tracks, her gleeful smile melting away into an open mouthed stare. There was Shy, laughing and talking to a large, reddish horse, who held two pink flowers in his mouth. AJ’s ears flattened.
‘He-He wouldn’t… he’d NEVER…’ but, in front of her now watery eyes, was her older brother Big Mac. Her gauged ears flattened, a tear spilling down her cheek. She backed up as Big Mac nodded, giving his flirty, dashing smirk at Shy.
Indeed, Fluttery Shy agreed to meet Apple Jack near the new clearing of apple trees, freshly planted and growing in the hot rays of the sun. She was told, via note from one of her bird friends, that AJ wanted to talk to Shy about something important. What was so important? She didn’t know. She knew it was something though.
“And I had just picked these flowers for a special filly in town,” Big Mac said proudly, flashing that dashing smirk that made Shys’ heart pound. “Rarity helped me set up a date too!”
“Aw, how kind! Rarity is the best at setting pony’s up for dates. She has a second gift.” Shy giggled as her pink tail swished to flick some flies away. Big Mac nodded in agreement, secretly blushing. He liked having such a dark coat to hide his blush.
“Eyup,” He grinned and whinnied softly. “Anyways, I gotta go! Good luck!”
The red, bulky horse made his way towards where AJ was. He was smiling, excited for his date with a filly in Ponyville. He couldn’t wait to see her smile either! Thanks to Rarity, he felt confident.
On The other hand, AJ moved out of the way as her brother trotted passed her. He hadn’t seen her, due to the fact that she hid behind a bulky tree near by. Hopes crushed, AJ turned and bowed her head. She began to walk the way Big Mac was trotting. She needed to cry. But she held back hot tears that stung her dull green eyes. She slowly made her way towards Ponyville, feeling like she was set up to fail by her brother.
Minutes turned to hours, the bright sun sliding down as the mood rose by Princess Luna. Shy had waited, and waited, pretty sure she had been stood up by one of her dear friends. She couldn’t believe it. Her heart hurt, thinking the worst of things that could have happened. Maybe AJ really didn’t need to tell her anything. Maybe AJ was laughing at how stupid Shy could have been. She waited there like an idiot pony.
With teary eyes, Shy sat down by the seedlings and broke down crying. She was excited to see AJ, a pony she felt like she hadn’t seen for ages. Not since the accident. When the moon was in the middle if the shy, a puffied eyed Flutter Shy made her way back to her home, tears flooding her cheeks the whole way there.
