I think some information about the premiere was leaked
Find out in about ~15 years when Lauren’s NDA expires if she feels like sharing.
@PastelBacon
Uh, theae posts we’re back in 2018? How on Earth did you know about the season 9 premiere?
What original script?
Hell… When the MLP movie was first announced and I didn’t know it was about teenage girls instead of my beloved ponies, I was ready to travel to the US and see it in theaters. Something I wouldn’t do today if I was invited. You people get my meaning. I would like to see what she had in her head, though. If only to see if it was really any better. Because “I can tell you that it was absolutely beautiful though.” is a bold claim, and I would even be willing to believe, judging by what I saw in the beginning and quotes like the one above. But unfortunately, it’s just a claim and a quote.
Don’t forget Sunset existing. That’s also a huge reason something like EqG still thrives.
@Background Pony #F603
-a possible (likely) pony movie was dumped for that
I swear, if it weren’t for Daniel Ingram’s fantastic work, plus the little moments that put a smile on our faces, the movies wouldn’t have been nearly as popular as they are. And how they flubbed the EqG toys when they had a decently successful movie to base it off of, I’ll never know.
Confirming what she said would be confirming that she violated her NDA and I won’t do that. But I don’t blame you for being skeptical, I wouldn’t believe me either.
That’s good to hear.
Find out in about 20 years once her NDA expires. I can tell you that it was absolutely beautiful though.
S2 ep.3 you mean. She had full control over S1 and the S2 premiere. And the “new director” (wrong term but whatever) was Meghan McCarthy, who was more than willing to bend over backwards for Hasbro’s demands which is how we ended up with things like the Friendship Express, Princess Twilight, and Equestria Girls (which was actually Meghan’s idea, Hasbro liked it a lot more than the movie Lauren wanted to do.)
Oooh, so that’s what happened
S1 ep.3 was the last ep. that she directed. She left the show for good after that and someone else took over directing the show for her. She was upset that the new director replaced s1 Luna with Modern Luna way too early in the series and then turned Twilight into Princess Twilight way too early in the series too.
This is why I don’t watch the show for new eps anymore. The new directors started messing up the show after Season 1 when Faust left. Season 2 was okay but the seasons that came after that was an mess.
No, Faust doesn’t direct the show anymore. Ask anyone here on Derpibooru and most of them who’s heard the news about her departure will say that it’s true.
Some of us have privileged information as to what her true plans were due to a private meet and greet she did that one time she went to Bronycon, and please trust me when I say that what makes her sad about the direction the show went has nothing to do with anything that petty. She did generally agree with those kind of changes from Hasbro.
That’s what I agreed with on after someone made the point. Also you should really put that in spoiler tags.
I’m not certain I can. Not because I have any beef with her not watching because she thinks the show has gone downhill. Frankly, the show has been on a generally downward trajectory since it’s peak in S5 (though not a smooth one; S6 is worse than S7 and S8, but S8 is worse than S7), at least in my opinion, so if that was all that was going on here, I could also respect it.
Yet, based upon what we know of her plans, the things that likely “makes her sad” is far pettier than that, and unworthy of respect. Like the fact that Coco Pommel and Babs Seed, city folks, aren’t evil.
are you sure his death is actually being retconned and he’s not you know being resurrected?
Yeah… Her hand would have eventually been forced on that last one. Last thing Hasbro would want is kids who live in cities thinking they’re irredeemably evil.
Yeah, they can certainly do that. Doesn’t mean it’s smart.
I see. Shame. I’m always curious about this. I agree on snobbish ponies too.
@IceKitsune
Funny. That is kind of what Luna felt like to me, with all that drama about nothing in the past (‘Magic Sheep’ and that flashback in the season 4 opener) and her motivation to turning evil, eventually turning out to actually being important and quite dependable. In the end it turned out that she seemed to have matured as the cartoon showed her. Don’t know how much of that was intentional after you said this, but I think it was a nice change, even I also think that they cut the character because she would be ‘out of time’ anyway.
Ironic that Celestia turned out to have the sophistication of a ball of yarn and the presence of a vain celebrity, and yet I see very few people complaining about that while the cartoon says that she’s a respectable ruler (for whatever that would be worth in a cartoon like MLP).
A lot of the changes Hasbro made were good, not gonna disagree there. The bad changes were when they started pushing hard for toy-centric ideas that went completely against the design of the world they had built. The train, alicorn twilight, and equestria girls were all things she was opposed to that Hasbro refused to compromise on (and she did try to find working compromises for each one, and they were all beautiful ideas that would have been amazing if they could have been implemented.) Meghan went all-in on those ideas, so Hasbro forced Lauren out and put Meghan in charge of everything because she was all too happy to do everything they wanted without any pushback.
I actually have to give props to Hasbro on this one here. I really don’t think that Lauren’s version of Luna would have ended up working very well. It would have seemed to weird for a 100+ish years old (or 1100+ if you count her time on the moon) ruler of a nation acting like a sarcastic teenager. In a flashback episode to before they ruled or slightly after Celestia and Luna started ruling sure that could totally work but in current times it would have been pretty strange. At least IMO anyway.
