It didn’t stop, per se- Pencils actually put another page up since he started working gigs for IDW. He’s just only got so many hours in a day, and those hours pay.
He’s still around but is currently working on a Fraggle Rock graphic novel from BOOM!
You have to understand that companies hire artists that deliver the product early on time and more importantly: they are cheap, that’s why MARVEL keeps Humberto Ramos, Greg Land and Salvador Larroca.

They definitely have docks in the show, they are just not visible 99% of the time.
I’m guessing since the show-style ponies don’t have docks, they want to keep it as in-tune with the show’s aesthetic as possible.
