They're both harmless characters but are also rather flat/bland characters. I personally like them despite their flaws but I can see why other people don't like them, especially considering how their relationships with the Twilights felt forced and felt like they were made by higher ups going, "Hey guys? Tween and teen girls like romande, right? Give the main character a boyfriend!" Kinda wish they were established and fleshed out as their own characters first before shipping went into the mix. Still wish they got some more character development.
As for Pinkie, her EQG counterpart just hasn't gotten a lot of shipping fuel unfortunately. Her pony counterpart has quite a lot of popular ships.
