To be fair on rock-bottom trixie things, even if Trixie did have back up funds we have no idea where she kept them or how long it’d take to get them.  
Hell, we don’t even know if she’d be able to access them if she needed any form of ID as it was probably in her cart or in the cape/hat she left behind.
 
so… there’s a good chance she did have to live and sleep rough at least until she could get to any backup funds she may have had stashed in banks or such elsewhere.

No, I think she’s down on her luck. The artist/author has talked about the plot on his blog and livestream, and and apparently it’s about how the events of “Boast Busters” ruined Trixie’s reputation and made her a poor has-been. She plots a triumphant comeback/revenge scheme, but gets sidetracked.
 
It might’ve gone over better if it were finished before “Magic Duel” aired.
