Some guys just dislike Starlight and then try to justify it by presenting false analogies and false representation.

Yes. She killed Discord. But considering he just let her kill him, that doesn't prove Starlight to be stronger. Discord's practically unfazed by death apparently, so all that effort to vaporize him was for nothing anyway.
"Starlight OP because creator's pet"
She has OP magic AND she's DHX's golden girl. BUT, correlation doesn't make causation. If her OP magic is a result of her being a "creator's pet" then she'd successfully solved every single problem in with her magic and everybody would be like "Wow Glimmer you're so magical! Can you cure my cancer--Oh my god I'm cured! Thank you Oh Glamorous One!" Heh. She can't even cure baldness. Starlight's OP magic almost always make things worse for her; Starlight solves her problems_*without_* magic and that's kind of the point to her character development.
Starlight has amazing powers--but they're_*useless._* Starlight can't empathize by simply mind-reading ppl, Starlight can't use friendship magic to magically wipe away corruption from ppl's hearts, Starlight can't transform apparently, She's not even an Element AND she's full of bad ideas--even her good ideas are bad ideas.
Look at ALL the major fights in FiM and EqG and count how many of them are won by blasting ppl in the face with ridiculously flashy magic. Almost **ALL of them.**yYet Starlight NEVER WON a single battle with her magic; she won them with _*SPEECH CHECK._* WoW! The single most magically OP character, never got a chance to win a fight with her OP magic--even when everybody else does it.
If you don't like a character that's fine, but don't make up stuff or overreact and making wild conclusions to justify why you don't like said character.
