I mean, yeah Star might have been over the top, but Sunburst really did step in it. There’s no way at this point that he doesn’t know Starlight has feelings for him, and while he doesn’t have them in return he’s not really made that super clear. He’s been kinda unintentionally stringing her along.
 
And then he presents a diamond ring in a felt box to her.
 
Yeah, he didn’t mean to mess with her feelings like that, because he’s an oblivious dork, but he still did it.
