Racing and being better isn’t the message here. It’s discipline and patience.
Dashie is way better than both of them and can outrace them anytime.

Would be nice if they explore this topic in Season 9, as a hint to how far RD can still go after the show ends.
I would rather say that Spitfire was the antagonist.
Lightning was a sympathetic pony who got carried away and was also misguided by her own captain.
She deserves redemption and a comeback.
