Not true, Super Mario characters have had colored eyes sense the ’80s. (In official artwork, & game manual illustrations, at least) Not to mention, some ’90s American cartoons like “Tiny Toon Adventures” & Disney shows gave characters colored eyes, and such, as well.

that was the 90s man, almost all the eye color’s where black in all media cause back then we didn’t focus on eye color! unless it was a anime that took the time to put in eye color that little detail didn’t matter because we where to busy focusing on either playing the action or watching it.

And even then Archie Comics made them brownish at rare times in their canon.
The eye color thing was always ridiculous, (it was basically started by Richard Kuta & his buddy Nicochi) as it has nothing to do with the quality of a game. Plus, it wasn’t the only thing… I remember some complaining the palm trees didn’t look like the ones from Sonic 1, and such.

“Sonic Boom” the TV show is actually genuinely funny, and actually has some pretty good satire at times.
Even those whom hated the game adaptations like “Rise of Lyric” enjoyed the show. Also, not counting the OVA, it’s the first TV Sonic series to adapt Metal Sonic. (And don’t worry, they treated him like a legit threatening serious villain.)
That’s why some like it.
The Sonic hate kinda started around the Dreamcast, or GameCube era, as some consider “Sonic Heroes” the “jumping the shark” game, (I liked it personally) and others pretty much consider every 3D game bad. Others who prefered the Dreamcast/GameCube/PS2/GBA era seem to dislike the games after 2006. Though, “Sonic Colors,” & “Sonic Generations” have their fans, dispite disliking the other games. Even the hated games like Shadow & StH2006 have some fans. (I actually liked Shadow despite it’s faults.)
“Sonic Mania” has been the most well received game by gamers & critics alike. Of course, a few Sonic-haters still refuse to “forgive” Sonic, and like to bash the game regardless, (because it’s so trendy to bash Sonic for some like IGN) or some Sonic fans who prefer the 3D games bash it for being “too retro,” or “nostalgia pandering.” So it’s impossible to please everyone, even with GOOD Sonic games.
I suppose you have a point that it’s a double standard that Super Mario can get away with gimmicks, but Sonic can’t. Granted, some didn’t like “Super Mario Sunshine” with it’s FLUDD gimmick.
are you serious? people liked that show? it was terrible! is the hate because of sonic 06 and the fallowing games after? of sure people don’t get pissed off when mario has a living hat but when sonic turns into a werewolf suddenly he’s the worst thing ever.
Y’know, originally Jim Cummings was also going to voice Robotnik in AoStH, or at least in the unaired pilot short. (Which can be found on Youtube.) He actually does a good silly Robotnilk as much as he does a serious one.
