In the world of My Little Mages, the equivalent race for ponies are called Mages. The three sub-races of Mage are Earthborn, Skyborn, and Magicborn. With a Mage who attains enlightenment becoming an Archmage (Alicorn equivalent). Magicborn draw energy from within with the focal point of their magic being the center of their forehead. Magicborn do not have crystals growing out of their heads, but instead wear circlets with “Focus Crystals” embedded in them. This helps them to better control their magic. Sort of like a painter using a brush as opposed to their fingers.

So what race is twilight in this? Cant think of any that have gems in their heads

I never heard of My Little Mages until now. I LOVE the design, especially the wings. Is this part of a fimfic series?

I looked through the set, love Lyra, Maud and Vinyl. In the future I hope to see more Rarity and maybe Fleur de Lis, Saffron Marsala, Sunburst and Sassy Saddles.

Thank you, that comment actually means a lot to me. It is always important to me as an artist to constantly improve and move forward. The difference in my skill level since I started drawing My Little Mages many years ago dawned on me when I displayed “season 1” Twilight next to her modern image for references for this image. It brought me back to when I was early in my Naval career doodling those very first drawings on the backs of my course notes.
