This is why I specified "animals" and not insects. Apples and oranges.


 
Edit: my language has two different words the differentiate the two, but I double checked and it seems English defines animals and insects as one and the same. So my mistake there, I did know Butterflies and other insects flew perfectly after their metamorphosis, but as i group Spike, a dragon as non-insect I wanted an example that could actually apply as I believe my second point stands., they're not comparable.
