discord was looking around in the mines beneath canterlot when he ran across the aether/the reality stone he was unaware of what it was at first until he sensed its power, however discord quickly realized he had more power than the stone itself and had a thought along the lines of “wtf is this weak shit? i can do more than this on my own” however something compelled him to keep it…. so he did.
Yea I agree the only stones he’d need is time and power and maybe soul? Idk about soul

Y’know, being tied to cosmic entities back before the universe began and all that.
Discord seems to have the powers of MOST of the infinity stones AS HIS NATURAL POWERS! So running across the reality stone just gives him powers he already has(notable stones that discord has the powers of are reality, space, time, and mind)
