It is true that most of this “abuse” is accidental blows that do not leave any wounds and do not mark him (although I admit that in the fourth season it was a bit exaggerated).

They’ve already shown characters in the darkest depths of despair and driven to insanity, they’ve shown the result of characters being mutilated, and they’ve shown characters captured and enslaved by evil forces. It’s barely a step further if they actually show characters being abused.

Sometimes Spike gets it rough, like in Princess Spike. But of course actual Spikeabuse is non-canon. Scootabuse, princest and futashy are non-canon as well, macros attesting to those facts are not necessary.

Eh, there are more than a few instances where the writers certainly went too far messing with him but Spike is indeed a beloved character both in the show and here amkng the fans.
