Torch has a lot to be nervous about, being the new dragon lord of a land in shambles.

He seemed to be good at his job. Twilight even said that dragons are notoriously reckless, but Torch kept them in line and was a reasonable guy.
Yes, he is a teenager here. If his depiction in Campfire Tales was accurate, which it probably is, he would have been much older there. I have also entertained the thought that his size was exaggerated in the legend to make the victory sound more impressive, which is something that often happens. It would also explain why Torch was so easily defeated. It would be kind of funny if this turned out to be the case.
If the fighting used to be even worse and they were desiring the environment, meaning by implication that these must have stopped being issues or at least mitigated to some degree at some point in Torch’s tenure, I assume that her must have been a fairly decent Dragon Lord.
Also, since he seems to be a teenager here – would this all be happening before the events in “Campfire Tales”?
Now, this is purely headcanon but the fighting among dragons used to be even worse and they were destroying their habitat in the process.
