Hi. System here. We don’t meet the qualifications for Dissociative Identity Disorder, but we have done a lot of research around it and are active in the community.
I do not think fluttershy has DID maybe ASD or Social anxiety but not DID
the reason i say ASD or social anxiety is bc i struggle with both and i see those in flutters
this might be a moment called masking where you mask in all of these personas
DID requires there to be memory loss between personality switches, which she didn’t have. Also she switched personas willfully, something else that DID patients can’t do. Having multiple personalities by itself doesn’t actually constitute a mental illness anymore, which is why ‘multiple personality disorder’ is no longer considered a thing as per the APA’s guidelines.
@PonyPon
the same show that had the mane lead go nuts because she was afraid of not having a friendship lesson at the end of the day and made an entire town almost kill eachother over a toy
Seriously, whose idea was it to give Fluttershy-a cartoon character from a kid’s show, mind you-Multiple Personality Disorder anyway? Don’t they know this condition cannot be cured?
My friend on DeviantArt has posited this as a headcanon about Fluttershy, going back to New Fluttershy in Putting Your Hoof Down, a headcanon she says she’s had since around 2013 or ‘14. Based off discussions with her, she’s posited that the “characters” she presents in this episode are more like ‘fragments’, or alters which have much narrower ranges in their responses and very limited activities which they actually do.
That episode was just confusing to watch, especially the end (then again, what after season 4 isn’t?). What was the lesson, if you need someone to run your shop pick someone with no experience in the industry whatsoever? She really should have just closed up the shop while she was busy.
