LyraBon is a defintion of a non forced LGBT couple. I think they were spending time together ever since S1 which is much longer than any canon ship in this show.
The answer is “both.” Nopony’s “just friends” in this show because friendship is love and friendship is life.
But they’re also in lesbians together.
If they work the LyraBon shipping into the show gradually and realistically, then that’s fine.
I hate when people try to force the ship into actual canon. I know this is probably a controversial opinion, but I don’t want characters to be gay for the sake of being gay or because people tell them to.
I don’t think that either Lyra&BonBon or Discord&Fluttershy will really stay as just friends before the show ends. They are pushed hard with recent seasons.
They ship them even more later.
