Ooh, like if their second eyelid opened up, it’d resemble the Space Ripper Stingy Eye or something, yeah? X3
That’s actually a rather interesting headcanon.
I was talking with some artists in the Babscon vendor’s hall, and one artist had the interesting idea that they have “normal” “mammal” eyes underneath a colored transparent covering kind of like an eyelid, but it can’t open. And then there’s the normal eyelid that opens and closes.

Hmm. Their eyes being more similar to spider eyes does make more sense.
Yeah, everyone just assumes they have compound eyes because bugz LOL, but the show has always illustrated them as looking more like spider eyes, where the multiple lenses moving around give the impression of the entire eye moving. Whatever they are, being lit from with means It’s Magic™, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don’t believe changelings have, or ever have had, compound eyes.
Additionally, their jaws, joints, facial carapace, et cetera, would require more muscles and fiberous connections were they designed more realistically, which I’d unequivocally doubt the animators would be willing to do. XD

No they don’t. Cartoon logic is at play here. If Changeling eye were exactly like bugs, they wouldn’t be nearly this expressive.
