Understandable. Although a good number of the ideas are choosen also by Artists. When I give an artist a new set of stories, some of them don’t have anything death related at all, but they still choose one that have some indication. For as much as I am sure there are poeple tired of the tropes I use, there are also others who enjoy them each time.

It’s fair enough to have your favorite tropes. Every author has ‘em.
 
It’s just… you know, not quite as fun as a reader when they get so over-used you start seeing how the story is about to go based on the author’s preferences instead of the story, world, characters or plot.

You know, given Rated-R-Ponystar’s tendency to have every gag, arc and story end with death, death, and some more death, it would actually be a shocking twist if the town was saved without further bloodshed, even Derpy’s brother only maimed and imprisoned, and it turned out Dinky’s dad’s still alive with the two just amicably divorced years later.
 
…I mean, given the current track-record I wouldn’t bet as much as a lollipop on it, but it would have been nice with some change of pace.
