Stairs in classicvanias were hell because you were stuck slowly going up or down them with no way to jump or avoid shit like medusa heads or projectiles.

in the game there the death of many gamers who played them the steps would be in that right area for a snakehead to hit you and before you can get but up your hit by another one to a point going up them is a death trap
