You do not need to do so if you wish. I also did not celebrate Starlight, mainly because I was too busy.
 
Other fans love her because she is cute, she stopped Queen Chrysalis so she can rescue Equestria’s rulers and the Mane Six with her friends’ help, or that they want to ship her with other characters. Some still prefer her when she was the lonely leader of her equality cult.
