||The pillars appeared in the comics before they did in the show so that kind of made people think they're canon. The people working on the show and the comics and the fans basically have the rule of anything that appears in the comics is canon unless the show says otherwise.


 
And yes, people hate the comics. But there's a lot of people who love them too.


 
Also the season 8 primer made it clear that they're not in trouble with the Hippogriffs/Seaponies anymore. They were able to go to their kingdom just fine and Queen Novo's niece is the student of Twilight's school. ||
