Those vines were being used to build a bridge. They’re pretty strong.
If they’re so elastic, than it should be pretty easy to stretch them enough to get out (especially since the holes is already big enough for ponies to stick their heads out).
Maybe the vines are too elastic to rip apart without being able to pull them for a significant length?
Too easy solution.
