Weapons are good for preventing that too
Weapons usually do a great job of making people stop and listen rather than laughing you off. You just have to hope they don’t call the cops next.
Jails are run by local authorities and are for inmates serving a short sentence. Usually people staying in jail are there for misdemeanors. Prisons are either federal or private and are for long sentences. Inmates serving time in prison are there for felonies.
You need to chill.
I admit, they can be used interchangeably. I think the best way to word it is that every prison is a jail, but not every jail is a prison.
Like, when you’re arrested by the cops and locked up in a cell at the station, you’re in jail, but you aren’t yet in prison. That requires a trial.
So in the context of this comic, Twilight is WELL within her rights to arrest this mare for brandishing a deadly weapon in this manner, and thus have her cool her head in a cell for a night, or until trial if charges are pressed. What Twilight cannot do, however (at least, I hope she can’t), is sentence her to 20 years in prison or something. That requires a trial.
Wait, what’s the difference? I’ve only ever known those words to be used interchangeably (unless we’re talking about prison camps for POWs).
I mean, it should be. She has to protect public safety. Going to jail is not the same thing as going to prison.
Yes, but Twilight’s first instinct isn’t “That’s a no-no, now go to jail.”

I mean, don’t you want Equestria to be a nation that enforces it’s laws?
Popular bronies have a strong urge to see the characters react to situations in the same way to how real life would really react to these situations.
There’s very little purpose to swinging around a sword except to cause harm.
I mean, being a cartoon this is more a joke for the absurdity of the situation, but in real life doing something life that’s grounds for getting the police called.
@Background Pony #6272
Clearly she thinks she’s talking to someone who doesn’t have a sword.
But Starlight’s room in blue, with books and stuff.
👍🙂
Calling it, her dungeon is pink, with cute decorations.
@MLP-Silver-Quill
You and other popular bronies really want to see the characters make the reactions to how our society would handle these scenarios, don’t you?
