Discords magic is directly linked with his thoughts, which are random, so his ideas (although they have some basis in logic) are actually chaotic. In this way he's a lot like pinkie pie. Neither of them thinks about what they're actually going to do, it's spontaneous.But I suppose you have point, after all Discords chaos isn't pure radical chaos, it has a purpose-to entertain and make fun. Pure chaos has no purpose or direction, its purest expression is probably something like an explosion.
