Who says Trixie knows that much about her? As far as she’s concerned, Twilight’s just a pony that is everything she isn’t, and loathes her accordingly. If she knew the whole truth…

That being said, doesn’t Trixie realize how bad of an idea it is to pick a fight with a pony who is not only a member of the royal family, but also the protege of the closest thing this world has to a god? Celestia has been around for thousands of years. I’m pretty sure she could see to it that Trixie just vanishes and is never seen again.

But if you ask me, the way it should end…
 
Twilight and Trixie, during the final battle, are evenly matched, and the intensity of their duel destroys a good bit of Ponyville (seems to be a recurring theme). At the apex of their fight, Celestia drops out of nowhere, disables their respective macguffins, and politely asks what the hell is going on. A little exposition later, she declares them both cheaters and punishes them by making them both work together to clean up their retardedly huge mess.
 
And in the process of working together, a tentative friendship just might be born. After all, if Trixie respects anything it’s strength.

This is Twilight’s “testing” phase. If she can’t handle her own shit, she isn’t capable of handling whatever Celestia has planned. Normally she would intervene, but clearly she has all the faith in Twilight, so she probably doesn’t feel she needs to. If she does know about what happens in this episode, she probably has a “wait and see” approach. If Twilight and her friends really couldn’t handle something, she’d lend a hoof.

Wow, I never noticed this before but this appears to be referencing Faust’s original idea for Zecora to be one of Twilight’s mentors alongside Celestia.
