lets hope the incredible’s 2 will be good and get people wanting more like it, and sadly that’s not gonna happen with the string of god awful animated movies coming out the fallowing year. i weep for the children

“trying to bring 2D Animation back”? Where the heck do you get the idea that that was one of the aims of MLP:TM?
 
And this is just a reminder that The Boss Baby has more Oscar nominations than The Big Lebowski, Breathless, Heat, His Girl Friday, The Searchers, The Shining, and To Be or Not to Be.

Because the Academy was sure as shootin’ going to pick one movie from Dreamworks, and there was no way most of the Academy members would consider nominating a movie called Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie.

Given that there was no way in Tartarus that MLP:TM was going to get any nominations, what would Lionsgate and/or Hasbro have to gain by submitting the movie in the first place?

The nominations were announced earlier this week, and yes, The Boss Baby was nominated for Best Animated Feature.

Um, the only nomination The Emoji Movie has gotten so far (outside of their historic four Razzie nominations) has been from the Black Reel Awards, nominating Maya Rudolph for Outstanding Voice Performance.

Don’t blame the animators. Blame an award system that decided to change things by allowing everyone in the Academy to be eligible to vote for the nominations for Best Animated Feature instead of just those that actually watch most of the submitted films up form nomination, which results in most voters nominating stuff on the sole reason being that their kids liked it.

I doubt the MLP movie would revive 2D animation on its own..and wasn’t The Boss Baby a Dreamworks film?

I can picture both films getting Academy Nominations (Though only one for Boss Baby)  
but since Lionsgate has no faith in the MLP Movie getting awards, only Boss Bably will likely get one

This movie would have given Pixar a run for their money.

Hasbro didn’t summit for the nomination.  
Pixar wins by default, so why even bother?

lionsgate/hasbro didn’t submit the movie to the academy for voting. i don’t know why, considering pretty much every other animated movie tried (even the emoji movie); i guess lionsgate had zero faith in the idea of the movie getting nominated and just didn’t bother?

I hate the current establishment on movie animations because of this…

It’s 2D but still fully CGI.

A bigger question is why pick The Boss Baby as a choice?
