@Hollowfox the Stallion You forgot about these five DreamWorks films. The Prince of Egypt, The Road to El Dorado, Joseph: King of Dreams, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, and Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas.

That too. If Lionsgate released the film in 2D and 3D theatres as IMDB implied (in the Company Credits Page of the film), it could have been the first fully 2D animated film to be released in Digital 3D, and then it could have earned more money than before just like most of Disney’s films.
 
Sadly, the flops of Divergent and Gods of Egypt (while being released in 3D), as well as the success of John Wick, which was released only in 2D, made Lionsgate stop releasing films in 3D in favor of only 2D. Which it kinda caused Power Rangers 2017 to flop.

I know. I was referring to Digital Stereoscopic 3D, since thanks to the Disney Rereleases and the Spongebob sequel, it wouldn’t be limited to CGI films nor live-action tentpole films.

Yeah, but I am talking fully 2D animated. Sponge out of Water is 80% 2D, 20% CGI/live-action hybrid.

Technically there was the spongebob movie sponge out of water which has 2d in it and was released in 3d

Legend 3D deserves respect for being involved in the 3D conversion as well as stereoscopic/SFX composition.

Your decisions of making all future tentpole films in 2D only (including this, Early Man and Power Rangers 2017, which the latter flopped because of that) just costed this film the title of “First fully 2D animated film to be released in 3D”.
